Billy Bob Thornton Roasts Political Celebs with Rogan While Branding Himself ‘Radical Moderate’ …

Bill Bob Thornton and Joe Rogan trashed political celebrities while also dismissing the major two parties that largely control American politics.
Thornton joined Rogan on his Joe Rogan Experience podcast for Friday’s episode to promote the second season of his TV show, Landman. During the discussion, the pair began expressing their displeasure with modern politics. Thornton labeled himself an “radical moderate.”
“I donate to a lot of charities, mainly children’s stuff, but nobody knows it. I don’t go to the awards show and talk about it when I’m getting my award,” Thornton told Rogan.
He then shouted out comedian Rickey Gervais’s 2020 Golden Globes gig where the host spent a majority of his time on the stage roasting celebrities and Hollywood studios.
“It’s like Ricky Gervais said … ‘come up here, accept your little award, and f*** off,”” Thornton said.
At the awards show ceremony, Gervais told the crowd:
So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.
“Unless you have really studied stuff and know about a subject fully, who the hell would want to listen to an actor or musician talk about politics?” Thornton continued. “Are we supposed to follow this? If we are, what if they lead you down the wrong road?” Thornton continued.
Rogan similarly blasted both American politics as a “ruse” and dismissed both parties as corporate-owned on a recent episode. Rogan supported President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, but he’s grown more critical of certain policies like mass deportation efforts in recent months.
Thornton called himself a “radical moderate” and called for a “common sense party” in the country.
“I just look at what makes sense and I think we need a common sense party in this country,” he said. “That’s actually what I think we need. Just figure it out. It’s pretty easy to figure out what this is all about.”
“A non ideologically captured party,” Rogan said, adding, “instead of us versus them.”
