Ligue 1 predictions & tips for this weekend’s matches
Paris FC vs Rennes
Kick-off: 7.45pm Friday
Rennes have won only one of their last seven league matches and now they head to a Paris FC side who picked up an impressive win at Monaco last time out. Take the home side here.
Prediction: Paris FC
Marseille vs Brest
Kick-off: 4pm Saturday
Marseille tend to be solid at home and they are fancied to bounce back from Champions League defeat with a win over Brest. However, both teams have scored in nine of the last 11 Ligue 1 games between these sides and the hosts may concede on their way to victory.
Prediction: Marseille to win & both teams to score
Le Havre vs Nantes
Kick-off: 6pm Saturday
Six of Le Havre’s last eight Ligue 1 games have finished with under 2.5 goals and the home side’s last three matches have produced just two goals in total. Nantes have failed to score in three of their last five matches and they may suffer a low-scoring loss to a solid but unspectacular Le Havre.
Prediction: Under 2.5 goals
Monaco vs Lens
Kick-off: 8.05pm Saturday
Lens have had only one draw this season but a second stalemate looks decent value when they visit Monaco in Ligue 1 on Saturday. The home side had a midweek trip to Norway while Lens are fresh from a 3-0 home win last Sunday and can claim a point in this top-five clash.
Prediction: Draw
Lorient vs Toulouse
Kick-off: 2pm Sunday
Lorient have endured a poor start to the Ligue 1 season and it could get even worse for the Bretons when they host Toulouse, who have already beaten Nice and Lyon on their travels. The hosts have conceded 25 goals in 11 matches and a porous rearguard may be their downfall once again.
Prediction: Toulouse
Angers vs Auxerre
Kick-off: 4.15pm Sunday
Both of these teams have struggled to find the back of the net this season and goals could be at a premium when they meet on Sunday. Twelve of Angers’ last 15 Ligue 1 games have gone under 2.5 goals and Auxerre have scored only seven in 11 games this term. Take under 2.5 goals.
Prediction: Under 2.5 goals
Metz vs Nice
Kick-off: 4.15pm Sunday
After failing to win any of their opening nine games, Metz have stopped the rot by winning their last two matches to nil. Things may be tougher against a talented Nice, but the visitors have lost their last two and may have to settle for a point.
Prediction: Draw
Strasbourg vs Lille
Kick-off: 4.15pm Sunday
Strasbourg’s Ligue 1 form has taken a hit of late, with last week’s 4-1 defeat at Rennes making it three games without a win. They will look to bounce back against Lille and that should lead to an exciting game, especially as nine of Strasbourg’s last 11 Ligue 1 home matches have gone over 2.5 goals
Prediction: Over 2.5 goals
Lyon vs Paris Saint-Germain
Kick-off: 7.45pm Sunday
Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique is prioritising the Champions League and he could rotate for this Ligue 1 clash with Lyon. That could prove a risky move as OL have lost just two of their last 15 home matches, winning seven of the last eight, and have the quality to avoid defeat.
Prediction: Lyon or draw double chance
