A new two-part Disney+ documentary follows the investigation of Caroline Flack’s mum, Christine, after the TV star tragically took her own life in 2020 and her mum searched for answers. Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth will feature never-before-heard-or-seen messages from Caroline to those closest to her at the time.
The former Love Island star took her own life while she was facing trial accused of assaulting her boyfriend, Lewis Burton, a coroner ruled. The day before her death Caroline had found out she would be prosecuted and feared press intrusion. Coroner Mary Hassell ruled her death was suicide.
The mum of Caroline Flack will talk in the new documentary, probing the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s final 24 hours. Christine Flack is seeking answers as to why Caroline’s nearest friends left her by herself in her apartment on the night she ended her life, especially after they had expressed concerns for the TV star’s well-being.
Before her death, Caroline was in a relationship with tennis player Lewis Burton. On December 12 2019, she allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a lamp at her flat in Islington, north London in the early hours of the morning. The next day she was charged by the Metropolitan Police with assault by beating.

After the star’s death, Lewis took to Instagram to share that his “heart is broken”. He posted a picture of of the two of them at a beach bar and wrote in the caption: “My heart is broken we had something so special.
“I am so lost for words I am in so much pain I miss you so much I know you felt safe with me you always said I don’t think about anything else when I am with you and I was not allowed to be there this time I kept asking and asking.
“I will be your voice baby I promise I will ask all the questions you wanted and I will get all the answers nothing will bring you back but I will try make you proud everyday. I love you with all my heart.”
Where is Lewis Burton today?
After the death of Caroline, Lewis went on to date the younger sister of One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, Lottie Tomlinson. Caroline was close friends with Lottie. Lewis and Lottie are said to have met at a party hosted by the best friend of Caroline, Lou Teasdale. The party was held to mark three months since Caroline’s tragic death.
A close source told MailOnline at the time: “Lewis and Lottie have grown close after spending time together at a party at Lou’s house. They have been meeting up in secret for weeks but their newfound friendship hasn’t gone unnoticed by mutual pals.
“Not all of Caroline’s friends are happy with how the situation appears to be developing but can understand that both Lottie and Lewis have been there for each other as a shoulder to cry on.”
Later that year they publicly confirmed their romance with an Instagram post during the festive period, where Lewis shared a picture of the two, writing: “You’re one of a kind, Happy New Year.”
The couple have since gone on to have two children together. In 2022, the couple took to Instagram to share the happy news they were expecting their first child, son, Lucky.

Lottie captioned a post “just the three of us” as she added a red heart emoji. Lewis responded to the post, saying “I love you both forever.” Earlier this year, Lottie announced the birth of their second child.
In January, the influencer said: “Our angel girl has arrived and she’s perfect in every single way 15/01/25.” Speaking about the pregnancy, Lottie said: “I think the first time I really took being able to rest and prepare for the baby for granted. But this time around, it has felt so much quicker.”
The couple became engaged in 2023 after he popped the question on a surprise romantic trip to Paris. On top of bringing up two children and planning a marriage, they have also been renovating a property of their own. Lottie keeps fans updated with the property progress on Instagram.
Lewis is no longer a professional tennis player. He owns a luxury lifestyle and concierge service called Twenty3 Club which aims to “create memories that last a lifetime.”
Lewis Burton and relationship with Christine Flack
Christine Flack allegedly found it difficult to see the couple starting their romance. A source close to Caroline told MailOnline that the couple’s relationship “must be devastating for Christine”.
The source added: “She has lost her daughter and now Lewis has become some kind of influencer with his girlfriend, living in apparent bliss and about to become a father for the second time.
“He has been able to move on with his life and find happiness, Caroline hasn’t and it is heartbreaking. Nobody expected Lewis to never find love again, of course he was entitled to, but it was all very quick.”
Ahead of the new documentary, Christine says: “People think they know what happened to Caroline, but the reality is much darker, there’s so much information the public haven’t seen. I want the truth to come out.”

Christine said: “As a parent, we think our children are always going to be there, I want justice for my daughter.”
In 2023, the Metropolitan Police apologised to Flack’s family for not keeping a record about why they charged her with assault.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had recommended the former Love Island presenter receive a caution following an incident with her boyfriend but this was overturned after an appeal from the Met Police who instead charged her with assault by beating.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said the force was ordered to apologise to Caroline’s family following a review by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) which found there was not a “record of rationale” to appeal against the CPS decision.
The Original two-part documentary premieres Monday 10 November, exclusively on Disney+ in the UK & Ireland
