“Performative Matcha is diabolical” “Nail polish makes me cringe”: NFL fans mock Caleb Williams’ pregame outfit for Bears vs. Bengals Week 9 showdown

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams attracted attention ahead of kickoff on Sunday. He showed up before the Week 9 game against the Cincinnati Bengals wearing a taupe knit sweater, light-wash jeans and dark brown leather boots.

Williams carried a cognac tote bag and a green drink, turning heads online. It wasn’t just the clothes that got people talking. His silver chain and signature painted nails once again became fodder for reactions.

“Performative Matcha is diabolical,” a fan wrote.

“The nail polish makes me cringe,” one fan said.
“Hope he brought his football brain in his girlfriend’s purse to the game … not just her fingernail polish,” another fan wrote.

Here are more fan reactions.

“This guy is still painting his nails. God we f*cked up so bad,” a fan commented.
“I will paint my nails if you win today, Caleb!!” one fan tweeted.

“Bro ready to make a Hallmark movie,” another fan commented.

Chicago entered the week searching for an offensive spark after several sluggish red zone outings in recent games. The Bears’ inability to finish drives has been one of the season’s recurring frustrations.

With the Bengals’ defense ranking near the bottom of the league in red zone efficiency, Sunday offers Williams an opportunity to steady the offense.

After being one of the most-sacked quarterbacks as a rookie, Caleb Williams has been brought down less often this year.

“It’s extreme focus,” Williams told reporters on Wednesday. “I don’t want to be one of those guys in year six where I’m one of the highest sacked ever in history. I’ve got a great group in front of me, running backs and tight ends and all of that. I think that’s part of it.

“The other part is, from my side, just being more comfortable and confident within the offense. Being more comfortable with being able to deliver a good ball and snapping the eyes around, knowing where the guy’s going to be. I think that’s something that’s going to keep growing throughout my career.”

His quicker reads and decision-making have also translated to cleaner pockets and steadier rhythm early in drives.

However, consistency is still a challenge. The quarterback’s accuracy on first downs has been a bright spot, but his second-down efficiency is still lacking. Establishing a rhythm in those middle downs, where Chicago’s offense often stalls, is crucial for sustained drives and touchdowns instead of settling for field goals.
