Williams had a stellar showing in the Bears’ 47-42 win against the Cincinnati Bengals last week. The 23-year-old registered 280 passing yards with three touchdowns.
Caleb Williams projected to make Bears history this season
The former Heisman Trophy winner had 3,541 passing yards in 17 starts in his rookie season with Chicago. However, Caleb Williams is projected to surpass this tally this season, having already racked up 1,916 yards in eight starts.
He became the first player to register 250+ passing yards, 50+ rushing yards and 20+ receiving yards in an NFL game last week. Although Williams has been leading the passing game for the Bears, four different players threw passes against the Bengals.
“I know everybody else is going to call them trick plays, but we practice them like they are just plays and base plays and so being able to make the plays when they count is something we pride ourselves on,” Williams said.
The Bears quarterback is projected to throw for 4,071 yards this season and if Williams achieves that number, he would become the first quarterback in franchise history to rack up 4000 yards in a season.
