Injury Updates And Other Takeaways From Mike Macdonald’s Friday Press Conference

Macdonald said Jones has made, “A lot of progress. Is what it is at this point, but he’s optimistic.”

Both Cooper Kupp (hamstring) and tight end AJ Barner (calf) were upgraded from limited to full participants on Friday’s practice report and are questionable for Sunday.

“I feel great about it,” Macdonald said on possibly having Kupp back. “He’s done a great job. I mean, Coop’s an animal. He’s great. It’s impressive to see what he’s willing to do to get ready to go play a game. It means a lot to him and I’m excited. He’s done a great job this week.”

And still in concussion protocol, Macdonald said Jobe has, “progressed from the beginning of the week, but he’s obviously not through it.”

2. Rashid Shaheed’s First Game As A Seahawk

Earlier this week, the Seahawks made a trade to acquire receiver Rashid Shaheed and on Sunday, Shaheed will presumably be playing in his first game as a Seahawk on Sunday.

“He’s doing great,” Macdonald said. “Just keep attacking it. It’s one of those deals where he’s done a great job so far and the prep won’t stop until all the way through game time.”

It’s still not known how much Shaheed will play on Sunday, but Macdonald did say the coaching staff does plan to have Shaheed out on the field on Sunday in some capacity.

“We got a plan for him and can’t wait to see him play. He’s done a great job.”

Macdonald also said Shaheed will have a chance to return punts as well.

“He will probably be part of the return game.”

3. Cody White’s “Heck Of A Story” NFL Journey

For his entire NFL career, receiver Cody White has been a player that has bounced around from practice squad to gameday elevations. And it seems like every time he gets the opportunity in a regular season game; he makes the most of it, whether that be a blocked punt, a clutch catch down the sideline or scoring his first-career NFL touchdown.

This season was the first time in his career that White has made the initial 53-man roster. After that, White has been released by Seattle three different times, signed to the active roster twice and elevated from the practice squad for a game once.

Macdonald said White has been a “team player” when it comes to the roster moves.

“The first thing is he’s been a guy that has been willing to accept some of these roster movements. That’s what really, I’m thinking of is earlier in the year, the selflessness that goes into that. I mean, this is a guy that’s battled his tail off for years now to carve out a role in the league and especially on our football team, and he’s earned it. And then being a team player after having made the 53, understanding where it fits in the whole scheme of things and then staying ready and keeping his body for when those opportunities arise and then capitalizing when those things happen. I mean, it’s a heck of a story and it’s not done yet, but he’s an impressive guy.”
