AFC

1. Indianapolis Colts 8-2 (first place, AFC South)

The Colts rallied to beat the Falcons in overtime in Berlin to open Sunday’s action. They matched the record of the Broncos, who outlasted the Raiders on Thursday night and have the tiebreaker based on beating Denver at home in Week 2. The Colts will enjoy a Week 11 bye before a big AFC interdivision showdown vs. the Chiefs in Kansas in Week 12.

2. Denver Broncos 8-2 (first place, AFC West)

The Broncos made sure they wouldn’t lose any ground on the Colts or the Patriots with their win over the Raiders. Denver also gets Kansas City next, in a big AFC West matchup at home in Week 12.

3. New England Patriots 8-2 (first place, AFC West)

The Patriots took care of a tough NFC matchup with the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay to keep pace with the Colts and Broncos. They gained a game on the losing Bills in the division, increasing their lead to a solid two games with eight weeks left.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers 5-3 (first place, AFC North)

The Steelers needed that Week 9 home win against the Colts to feel more confident about holding off the rebounding Ravens, whom they lead by two full game,s with the teams’ two matchups coming in the second half. They get another challenge in the Chargers on the road in Week 10.

5. Los Angeles Chargers 6-3 (second place, AFC West)

The Chargers are 1.5 games behind the Broncos and a game ahead of the Chiefs, well-positioned to return to the playoffs for Jim Harbaugh as at least a wild card. They get a good test at home on Sunday night vs. the Steelers.

6. Buffalo Bills 6-3 (second place, AFC East)

The Bills, after the thrill of beating the Chiefs, lost in a dud to the Dolphins to fall two games behind the Patriots in the division race. They lost a spot to the Chargers going into Sunday night and couldn’t gain a game on the losing Jaguars.

7. Jacksonville Jaguars 5-4 (second place, AFC South)

The Jaguars lost in shocking meltdown fashion at Houston in Week 10 and now only hold this spot head-to-head tiebreaker over the three-time reigning AFC champion Chiefs.

Who’s in the hunt?

8. Kansas City Chiefs (5-4)

9. Houston Texans (4-5)

10. Baltimore Ravens (4-5)

11. Cincinnati Bengals (3-6)

The Chiefs are in an unusual situation, sitting on the outside of the playoff picture during their Week 10 bye. The Texans beat the Jaguars on Sunday to improve their fading wild-card chances. The Ravens are still hoping they can rally to win the AFC North over the Steelers, the same division in which the Bengals are fading.

Who’s left?

12. Miami Dolphins (3-7)

13. New York Jets (1-7)

14. Las Vegas Raiders (2-7)

15. Cleveland Browns (2-7)

16. Tennessee Titans (1-8)

NFC

1. Philadelphia Eagles 6-2 (first place, NFC East)

The Eagles are back in the driver’s seat for their Super Bowl title defense. Home field is in their full control, with key wins over the Buccaneers and Rams so far and they can also take care of the Packers’ tiebreaker in Lambeau Field on Monday night.

2. Seattle Seahawks 6-2 (first place, NFC West)

The Seahawks own the division tiebreaker over the Rams with a better conference record (1-1 vs. 0-1) and also are half-game up on the 49ers, to whom they lost in Week 1. They will maintain their lead with a win and season sweep of the Cardinals.

3. Green Bay Packers 5-2-1 (first place, NFC North)

The Packers fell down here from No. 1 after getting stunned by the Panthers at home in Week 9. They need to make some ground in the race for the top seed by beating the Eagles at home on Monday.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6-3 (first place, NFC South)

The Buccaneers lost a tough interconference matchup with the Patriots at home, failing to keep putting pressure on the Eagles, Seahawks and Packers. At least they avoided losing ground in the division race, where they are still 1.5 games up on the now .500 again Panthers.

5. Los Angeles Rams 6-2 (second place, NFC West)

The Rams are a tiebreaker down to the Seahawks and already lost once to the 49ers at home, so it becomes critical they win at San Francisco on Sunday to improve their division-winning chances.

6. San Francisco 49ers 6-3 (third place, NFC West)

The 49ers will look to jump the Rams by beating them at home and completing a key season sweep. San Francisco also controls division play so far at 3-0 with previous wins over Seattle, Los Angeles and Arizona.

7. Chicago Bears 5-3 (second place, NFC North)

The Bears rallied to beat the Giants with Caleb Williams leading the late charge at home on Sunday. That allowed them to jump the Lions behind the Packers and also go up 1.5 games on the last-place Vikings

Who’s in the hunt?

8. Detriot Lions 5-3

9. Carolina Panthers 5-5

10. Minnesota Vikings 4-5

11. Dallas Cowboys 3-5-1

12. Arizona Cardinals 3-5

13. Atlanta Falcons 3-6

14. Washington Commanders 3-6

The Lions would jump the Bears again with a win over the Commanders with a better division record. The Vikings hurt their North and wild-card chances with a bad home loss ot the RAvnes. The Panthers, even back down to .500, are a pleasant surprise, but the NFC South title remains their best playoff path. The Cowboys and Commanders look challenged to make a wild-card run behind the Eagles.

Who’s left?

15. New Orleans Saints 2-8

16. New York Giants 2-8

The Saints got their first win since beating the Giants with a mild upset of the Panthers in Carolina, the first for rookie QB Tyler Shough. The Saints’ other win came against rookie QB Jaxson Dart and the Giants. The Giants lost Dart to a concussion in Week 10, costing them a chance to stay ahead of the Saints.
