Legendary actress Sally Kirkland in hospice after heartbreaking dementia diagnosis

Actress Sally Kirkland has entered hospice care in Palm Springs amid her battle with dementia.

Kirkland’s rep, Michael Greene, confirmed the news to TMZ, adding that her friend and former student, Cody Galloway, is by Kirkland’s side.

The Oscar nominee, 84, has suffered health issues in recent years.

A GoFundMe was created in November 2024 after Kirkland “fractured her four bones in her neck, right wrist, and her left hip,” and while she was recovering, “developed two separate life-threatening infections.”

The medical bills began to mount, and it was more than her insurance would cover.

Last month, organizers of the fundraiser posted a message.

“Hi: Sally sends her love to everyone. It has been a challenging few months for Sally as her health continues to struggle,” it read. “She had a fall in the shower, when she was left unattended; injuring her ribs, foot, along with cuts and bruises.”

“Sally is now receiving 24/7 care in a specialized facility, that is providing wonderful safety and care,” the message continued. “We are continuing to try raise money to cover the gaps between income and care costs. Thank you for all the love, support, and care for Sally.”
