Former ESPN host sounds off on ‘monster’ Stephen A. Smith’s rise: ‘I don’t respect him’

Former ESPN host Michelle Beadle does not like her former colleague, Stephen A. Smith.
In a minute-long rant on her daily podcast with former pro-baseball player Cody Decker, Beadle tried her best to show listeners what Smith is really like behind the scenes.

“If I’m ESPN, like, I get it. You created this monster. He is bigger than you now, and that’s exactly your fault, and your fault only,” Beadle said in a clip shared on X/Twitter. “You let him run rampant all over that company and put his face on every(thing). For everybody who’s like, ‘Oh, he worked so hard,’ I’m gonna let you in on a little behind the scenes. He wants to do that. Nobody’s asking him. He shows up.
“I told everyone I work with, I will never share a set with that person ever, because I don’t respect him … Life’s too short. The minute, literally, the minute the morning of my last day on ‘Get Up!’ as (Mike Greenberg) was giving me a heartfelt goodbye, and I awkwardly sat there as I was leaving the set, they started a promo that Stephen A Smith will be on the show tomorrow, like it is him. So let’s stop acting like the guy gets worked to death. It’s him.”
In June, Smith announced that he would be hosting two shows on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio channel, a sports talk station that features former WFAN personality Chris “Mad Dog” Russo.
One of Smith’s shows will air in the early afternoon beginning at 1 p.m., replacing Beadle’s show starting Sept. 2. The other, “Straight Shooter with Stephen A.,” in which he discusses politics and culture, airs Wednesdays starting at 6 p.m. EST.
