Papillion-La Vista South volleyball sweeps Lincoln North Star to repeat as Class A state champions
LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – The Titans are back on top.
Class A No. 3 seed Papillion-La Vista South volleyball swept top-ranked Lincoln North Star in the state title match to repeat as state champions Saturday.
The victory marked the Titans fourth state title in five years and eighth overall.
The Titans set the tone early, with a 9-0 run powered by a pair of Dani Vallinch aces and two kills apiece from Kambria Bails and Finley Moone. Bails led the way with four kills in the first set as Papio South cruised to a 25-11 set win.
Lincoln North Star answered early in the second set. The Navigators led 11-8 and 17-16 before the Titans closed in. Kills from Maddox Graves and Makenna Sanders along with an ace from Kami Dyrstad charted the course for Papio South en route to the 25-22 set victory and a 2-0 start.
The Titans jumped out to a 9-5 lead in Set Three before Lincoln North Star rallied with a 4-0 run to tie. The Titans stymied any hope of a ‘Gator comeback with a scorching 9-1 run to take a 23-12 edge. Maddie Larson delivered the match point kill to seal the sweep and the back-to-back titles for Papio South.
