Dakota Fanning on Being the Only “Honest” and “Trustworthy” Character in All Her Fault – INTERVIEW

Dakota Fanning talks All Her Fault spoilers!

Dakota Fanning stars as Jenny Kaminski in All Her Fault, based on the novel by Andrea Mara. The series follows a parent’s worst nightmare when a mother goes to pick up her son from his first playdate, only to discover that he’s not there. Dark secrets are exposed, leading the Irvine’s seemingly perfect world to be completely shattered. I spoke with the actress about her role in the story and Jenny’s big decision at the end.

On the fact that her character was never a suspect

“I didn’t play Jenny with any red herring moments. She’s not a part of this. She’s a good person, and it’s all real, it’s all true, and it’s all authentic, and you kind of need that in this really twisted, turning, crazy thing. You kind of need somebody who’s solid. And so, she ends up being that person for Marissa, just a very trustworthy character that is not going anywhere and is not going to become different than who you think she is. She’s kind of the only really honest one in the whole thing in a way.”

She continued to express, “I ultimately was like, oh, it’s so much nicer to just have the good version of Jenny, you know? The one who [made a mistake and] didn’t do enough research, like, sorry, I thought that I called enough people, but it turns out I didn’t. I mean, just these sort of innocent mistakes that make it become a bigger thing, and yeah, I think that we all can relate to some version of that.”
