How long is Joe Burrow out? Latest update, timeline of Bengals QB’s toe injury

NFL Week 10 picks: Consider Eagles, Bears and Browns on Sunday
Somehow it’s already Week 10 of the NFL season. If you’re looking for help making your picks, watch and see why Lorenzo likes the Browns, Bears and Eagles.
For the second time in as many weeks, the Cincinnati Bengals gave up a go-ahead score inside two minutes in regulation to lose. In Week 8, it was a 39-38 loss to the New York Jets. In Week 9, it was a 47-42 loss to the Chicago Bears.
Once again, Cincinnati’s offense had an outstanding day. The Bengals put up a season-high 495 yards of offense behind quarterback Joe Flacco and a stable of talent.
They’re now 3-6 entering their bye. With eight games left in the regular season, Bengals fans have to be wondering how soon franchise quarterback Joe Burrow can come back.
Burrow’s Grade 3 turf toe injury in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars put him on injured reserve (IR) for the last two months.
After losing three games in a row without Burrow in the lineup, Cincinnati traded for Flacco from the Browns to get a change at quarterback. Flacco has led them to one win in four games since taking over the starting job.
Time’s running out for Burrow to come back and help keep the Bengals’ playoff hopes alive. Here’s the latest on his status.
How long is Joe Burrow out?
Bengals coach Zac Taylor spoke about Burrow’s status ahead of the team’s Week 8 game against New York.
“He’s been good. I don’t have any updates [on the progress]. It’s gone as we had hoped,” Taylor said.
“He’s had a great attitude, great energy about him. He’s in the meetings, met with him one-on-one, he’s been great to be around, optimistic and things have been going well, but I don’t have any update on the timeline.”
Burrow had surgery on his toe on Sept. 19 with a predicted three-month recovery. Three months from that date would be Dec. 19 – two days before the Bengals’ Week 16 game against Miami.
That would be the earliest. He may need more than two days to ramp up for the game, pushing his return date to Week 17 at home against the Arizona Cardinals.
