Bengals QB Joe Burrow returns to practice in limited capacity

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow took a step toward returning to action as the team announced he has been cleared for a limited return to practice.
Burrow, who has been sidelined since Sept. 16 with a toe injury, is beginning a 21-day window in which he can participate in limited on-field activities without counting against the team’s 53-man roster. The Bengals can activate him at any point during that period.
The move marks a positive development in Burrow’s recovery after he was sidelined early in the season. The 28-year-old quarterback was injured in Week 2 and has spent the past several weeks rehabbing as the Bengals relied on backup options under centre including veteran Joe Flacco.
While the Bengals did not provide a timeline for his return to game action, Monday’s move allows Burrow to resume throwing and participating in on-field drills as he continues his recovery process.
With a 3-6 record, Cincinnati holds slim odds to qualify for the playoffs and would need to find a way to remain in the hunt for top spot in the AFC North.
It won’t be easy with the Baltimore Ravens trending up with Lamar Jackson returning and the team picking up three-straight wins. The Bengals have lost their last two games and face a critical showdown against the division-leading Pittsburgh Steelers.
