Strictly Come Dancing professional Dianne Buswell has revealed she’s been left annoyed after being forced to make a significant adjustment at home ahead of expecting her first baby with partner Joe Sugg.
After winning Strictly last year alongside Chris McCausland, who became the programme’s first blind champion, the dancer had to pull out of this year’s series when her celebrity partner, Stefan Dennis, sustained a calf injury during week four of the BBC competition.
Beyond her recent setback on this year’s programme, she spoke candidly to Chris McCausland on their Winning Isn’t Everything podcast, confessing she felt “devastated” when her boyfriend discarded a beloved possession from their property. Discussing how events transpired, she explained: “Joe got rid of my upside down hanger, Joe got rid of it! He said he didn’t like it in the house. So I don’t mention the upside down hanger anymore.”
Despite acknowledging she was “devastated” by losing the item, the performer managed to see the funny side, commenting: “I’m just fuming about it. It was just up and gone one day, and I went down to hang upside down and I couldn’t, I was devastated.”

She quipped that perhaps it’s fortunate the fitness gear has been discarded ahead of welcoming her first baby, telling Chris: “Knowing me, I’d get the child and I’d be like, ‘just have a go at that. Just see what that does to you. Does that stop you crying?'”.
The health-conscious professional dancer was most likely using the apparatus for inverted hang exercises before its disposal, a technique which involves suspending oneself upside down from a bar or rings. This type of workout helps develop core strength, shoulder stability, and grip power.

Back in September, Dianne and Joe shared the exciting news on Instagram that they are expecting their first baby together. In a sweet video showing them painting a family portrait, they wrote: “Our little baby boy, we cannot wait to meet you.”
The announcement follows Joe and Dianne joining the ranks of numerous Strictly Come Dancing couples who have found romance through the programme.
First partnered together during series 16 of Strictly in 2018, the duo danced their way to the final before claiming the runner-up spot. Yet it wasn’t until their Strictly journey concluded that they publicly confirmed their relationship.
Since their time competing on the programme, Dianne has experienced varying levels of success in the competition before ultimately claiming the Glitterball trophy. In 2019, she ended up in the 13th spot with Dev Griffin, and a year later, she climbed up to ninth place with Max George.

However, the Aussie star has seen more success in recent years, bagging second place with Bobby Brazier in 2023, before dancing her way to victory last year with comedian Chris.
Strictly Come Dancing is all set to return to our screens tonight (November 8) at 6.25pm on BBC One.
