Prince William tells young people to wear a poppy

The Prince’s message will be broadcast during the Royal British Legion’s (RBL) Remembrance Assembly on Tuesday.

The online event, presented by veteran and presenter JJ Chalmers, will also connect young people to Remembrance heritage through music, poetry, art and voices from across the Armed Forces community.

Philippa Rawlinson, director of Remembrance for the RBL, said Prince William’s contribution would “encourage young people to take part in Remembrance and find their own connection to the Armed Forces community, past and present”.

Elsewhere, the Princess of Wales will attend the Armistice Day Service on Tuesday, during which a specially commissioned poem by Arji Manuelpillai, the National Memorial Arboretum’s poet-in-residence, will be read out.

The poem, titled A Sonnet For Us All, reflects themes that are close to the Princess’s heart, including the importance of personal connections as well as experiences and bonds that are formed through military service.
