Finally, Fortnite’s Simpsons season is getting Spider-Pig (and a bunch more)

It’s been over a week since The Simpsons brought Springfield to Fortnite and, so far, it’s been everything fans hoped it would be. Thankfully, though, Epic Games isn’t done yet. A new The Simpsons animated short teases what’s coming next in Fortnite — and it’s all pretty incredible.
The short, “Sugar High,” can be watched right now on Disney Plus or via Fortnite‘s social media accounts, meaning you can check it out above. In it, Homer meets with Professor Frink, who wanted the souped-up remote controller Homer has — which has been seen in Fortnite‘s key art. In the most Homer move ever, he wisely decided to jam a shard from the Zero Point — an orb made of pure energy that was first introduced into Fortnite lore back in Chapter 1 Season 4 — into the battery compartment with little regard for what comes next.
Based on the short, it looks as though the remote as an item will operate similarly to a Junk Rift or even last season’s Air Strike. The big difference is that instead of dropping all manner of garbage like the Junk Rift or massive missiles like the Air Strike, it’ll drop gigantic versions of food. In the short, we see Homer’s beloved frosted doughnut, as well as chicken drumsticks, pieces of pie, slices of pizza, and even a massive ham. If that is, in fact, how the remote works, it’s going to be a pretty wacky item that causes a good amount of chaos.
After the remote control, we get a good look at skins for bartender Moe Szyslak and Professor Frink, who has been turned into a banana à la Peely. This look is different from the Springfielder Peely skin in this month’s Battle Pass, so we may end up with a couple of bananas before all is said and done.
We also see that chainsaws are coming back, after going away at the end of last season. While the Springfield map is smaller than the typical Fortnite map, it’s still big enough that you will likely find yourself crossing an open field at points. Having a chainsaw for mobility is going to make that a lot easier to handle. (Plus, there’s nothing scarier in Fortnite than the sound of an army of chainsaws coming your way.)
There’s also a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance by the one and only Plopper, more famously known as Spider-Pig, Homer’s pet pig first introduced in The Simpsons Movie. While not confirmed, the general consensus among fans and leakers is that this will be the first Simspons-themed Sidekick collaboration, which will allow you to have Spider-Pig at your side (after you pay for him, of course).
The most curious tease is the final one. Homer tries to hide the shard at the Nuclear Power plant in a vat of nuclear waste. While it doesn’t somehow immediately explode, Homer does fall into said vat while reaching for a candy bar. What emerges is an army of glowing Homers that then start the march toward Springfield.
This could mean another Homer skin or even multiple Homer enemies to fight on the island. We’re hoping for something entirely different, though. Last month, in collaboration with KPop Demon Hunters, Fortnite added Demon Rush mode. It was a pretty basic horde shooter with a couple items unique to the mode. Obviously, Epic should do the same thing but with radioactive Homer clones.
Demon Rush was a nice change of pace for Fortnite fans and also offered an easier entrance into the game for newbies than Battle Royale does. It allows players to get a better handle on the mechanics of the game without worrying about a ruthless gamer cutting them down while they’re trying to figure out how Shockwave Grenades work. What’s more, the horde aspect of the game leads to a very different way to play Fortnite, as the baddies just never stop coming.
With only a week gone, there’s still so much more of The Simpsons coming to Fortnite. There’s no telling what all we’ll see by the time this mini-season ends, but we’re excited about what’s next. Though not yet confirmed, it seems a Kill Bill collaboration with Quentin Tarantino is in the works, complete with the Pussy Wagon.
