Vinted users are “livid” after a significant alteration to the platform. The website, which stands as Europe’s top second-hand fashion marketplace, boasts millions of users worldwide who utilise the platform to purchase and sell pre-owned clothing, accessories and gadgets.
However, on Monday, November 10, app users spotted a substantial modification. Within the women’s sizing category, Vinted has consolidated sizes into groups, altering how users both browse and list their garments. Rather than having individual letters for each size, XS now encompasses 4-6, S covers 8-10, and M includes 12-14. This adjustment also affects clothing already posted on the platform, leaving users feeling disgruntled.
A Vinted spokesperson commented: “We’ve updated our size guidelines for women’s and kid’s clothing to make sizing more accurate across international brands. UK members will have received a message in their Vinted inbox with more details and you can also find full information on our Help Centre”.
One woman, posting under the TikTok username @jess.vintage.revivals, shared her thoughts about the modification, expressing her frustration, reports the Mirror.
She commented: “Vinted, what the f**k are you doing? I’ve just logged onto my Vinted this morning, and they’ve changed all the sizes around.
“Really not helpful. Does that mean I’m going to have to go through 800 odd listings and change the size on them because they’re not going to match up with the listing description?”.
“So then therefore, when people search under the dropdown menus, my items are not going to come up.
“People are going to be really confused and be like, oh, well this is advertised as a size medium which is a 12-14. Well yesterday a medium was a size 10 Vinted.
“Excuse me. What the f**k are you doing? I feel like we just need to reach out the Vinted and just give them a verbal slap and tell them to sort themselves out.
“I mean, I like the fact they have changed the sizing a bit because that’s better. But why did they have to do it historically on all the old items as well.
“Could they not have just done it moving forward? They could have done it in a better way?”.
Users flocked to the comments section of Jess’ video to express their frustration about the modifications, with one describing them as “ridiculous”.
One user commented: “It’s a nightmare, mine are all over the place, the Vinted Ai has read pit to pit measurements as sizing so I have size 10 cardigans now listed as size 22 for example so now frantically changing them all before people buy. Also why haven’t they just done single sizing in case of still using dual sizing? ? Plus no warning! Feel for you with 800+”.
Another person remarked: “So many people are unhappy with it so hopefully they will change it back.”
Another disgruntled individual stated: “I’ve put mine on holiday mode. It’s ridiculous.”
A fourth person expressed their frustration, writing: “Fuming! Had to go through all of mine.”
