Dakota Johnson Is an Android in New Sci-Fi Movie

Madame Web star Dakota Johnson has signed on for the leading role in an upcoming sci-fi action movie, titled Trudy Blue. This marks the first time that Johnson will be starring in this kind of genre.

What do we know about Dakota Johnson’s Trudy Blue movie?

“Set in the near future, the film follows an outlawed android maid who wakes up in a landfill 2,000 miles from home and must embark on a journey through a now foreign world to get back to where she belongs,” reads the synopsis.

Trudy Blue will be directed by Angus MacLane, who is best known for his work on multiple Pixar movies, including directing Finding Dory and Lightyear. The movie’s screenplay was written by Evan Twohy. In addition to leading the cast, Johnson will also be producing through her TeaTime Pictures banner, alongside Alex Saks for Saks Picture Company, Ro Donnelly, and Samantha Racanelli. At the moment, the project has no distributor yet, but it has already launched at the American Film Market with CAA Media Finance handling the domestic rights while Legendary’s 193 company is handling the international sales.

Johnson’s most recent acting credit was A24’s latest romantic comedy Materialists, which was also led by Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. She was also recently seen in the comedy movie Splitsville with Adria Arjona, which she also produced. Johnson will next be seen in the upcoming psychological thriller Verity, based on Colleen Hoover’s 2018 novel. She will be starring opposite Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett.
