Power remains out in Nueva Vizcaya

BAMBANG — Thousands of households in Nueva Vizcaya remain in darkness as electricity supply has not returned to normal since Super Typhoon Uwan swept through the province on Monday.
The Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative (Nuvelco) has formally requested assistance from Task Force Kapatid of the National Electrification Administration and the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association to support immediate efforts to restore electricity across the province.
Nuvelco general manager Fredel Salvador said the cooperative has also activated Code Typhoon Sentinel, mobilizing all available personnel to work nonstop to restore power in the province.
“Line workers are deployed throughout the province, assessing the damage and working to repair the extensive destruction caused by the typhoon to electric infrastructure,” Salvador said.
In his latest update, Salvador said that power has not yet been fully restored but “assessments are under way to determine the full extent of the damage and to start repairs as soon as conditions permit.”

Nuvelco has urged residents to stay away from fallen or hanging wires and to report damaged electric infrastructure through their official hotlines.
The cooperative has also asked for patience and cooperation from member-consumers as crews work tirelessly to restore service across the province.
“We are doing everything we can to restore power as quickly as possible,” Salvador said.
Meanwhile, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines tried to energize its lines to enable Nuvelco to draw power and partially supply the municipalities of Solano and Bayombong, but initial attempts failed.
The power outage has affected thousands of households, businesses and vital services in the province, emphasizing the urgent need for restoration efforts.
“Nuvelco’s focus is on restoring power safely and efficiently, and we are working closely with government agencies and other stakeholders to achieve this,” Salvador added.
Residents are also advised to stay tuned for updates and exercise caution in areas with damaged electric infrastructure.
