MAFS UK drama: Julia-Ruth just dropped pics of her holiday with Joe – 6 things we know about the trip

Last night’s episode of Married at First Sight UK contained one of the most shocking moments in MAFS UK history after it was revealed Julia-Ruth Smith and Joe Wood went on holiday together to Lanzarote just two days after Joe left the experiment and ended his marriage to wife Maeve Mathieson. And now Julia-Ruth has shared pictures from the holiday.

During the episode, which saw all the brides from the season reunite for a final girls night, Julia-Ruth entered the drinks and confessed she had gone away with Joe straight after he left the experiment.

She revealed the pair had been intimate while on the trip but were no longer on speaking terms after Joe had ghosted her following their return.

Following the episode airing last night, Julia-Ruth shared a number of photos from the trip on her Instagram Stories this morning (10 November), see the pictures here:

It happened two days after Joe left the show

Joe and Maeve had an emotional and abrupt end to their time on MAFS UK. While at first they were smooth sailing, things came crashing down towards the end of the experiment.

Joe made an unplanned exit from the show after hearing of the sad news of his grandad’s passing. He then returned to the show to surprise Maeve before the fourth dinner party. However, he wasn’t well received by his wife who had heard from the group that Joe had told fellow groom Ashley about his lack of feelings for Maeve.

Upon hearing this Maeve was very upset and told Joe how she was feeling. The pair ended their relationship and Joe refused to carry on filming.

It now appears that two days after leaving Joe then went away with Julia-Ruth to Lanzarote.

They stayed in Puerto Carmen

Thanks to some internet sleuthing from the pictures Julia Ruth shared on her Instagram Stories today, it appears the pair stayed in the Puerto Carmen area of Lanzarote in an apartment complex called Apartamentos Arena Dorada. The complex has a pool, bar, and restaurant and is just a stone’s throw away from the beach.

Right now a night at the complex starts at just £72 per night.

The trip was a spontaneous plan

Last night Julia-Ruth shared a lengthy statement about what happened in the episode, and revealed the trip wasn’t a massive plan and it had happened spontaneously after she reached out to some of the cast, after feeling isolated.

She wrote on her Instagram: “After everything that happened during the experiment, I felt incredibly isolated and reached out to some of the cast who were already out. Joe and I ended up taking a very spontaneous trip together.”

The trip was ‘amazing’

Julia-Ruth also revealed in her statement that the pair had a great time away, saying: “honestly, it was amazing. I hadn’t laughed that much in months, he reminded me of who I am and how I deserve to be treated.”

From the looks of Julia-Ruth’s pictures it appears much of their time away was spent having cocktails and chilling by the pool.

The pair were intimate during their holiday

As mentioned on the show the holiday wasn’t strictly platonic with Julia-Ruth confessing to sleeping with Joe during their time away.

Joe ghosted Julia-Ruth after they returned

Following their time in Lanzarote, Julia-Ruth revealed Joe then ghosted her when they got back to the UK and they were now not speaking.

She wrote on her Instagram: “That said, things didn’t end the way I expected. We had planned for me to visit him again after our trip, but the day before I was meant to go, I was ghosted. I never got an explanation, and we haven’t really spoken since.”

Julia-Ruth did also apologise to Maeve in her statement, saying she was sorry for the hurt she caused.

So far Joe has not said anything about Julia-Ruth or the holiday.
