St Kilda will launch its 2026 campaign under lights at the MCG as part of the AFL’s Opening Round, facing Collingwood in the only Victorian-based game of the weekend.

CEO Carl Dilena said the fixture was an exciting acknowledgment of the club’s direction.

“We’re really proud to be part of Opening Round. It’s great recognition of the growth of our football club and reflects the excitement of where we’re heading,” Dilena said.

“To be kicking off our season at the MCG, the home of footy, in such a signature game is a big statement.  As a club, we relish the opportunity to perform on the biggest stage.”

The marquee Sunday night slot on the eve of the Labor Day public holiday gives fans the perfect opportunity to come together and celebrate the return of footy in style.

“It’s the only game in Melbourne that weekend, so it’s a chance for all footy fans, not just Saints and Pies supporters, to come together and celebrate the return of football,” Dilena said.

“We’ve worked hard to earn opportunities like this, and there’s real momentum building around this group. We’ve refreshed our list, added exciting talent and we’re confident in the direction we’re heading.”

The St Kilda faithful is encouraged to seize the moment and turn up in numbers for what promises to be a blockbuster season opener.

“It’s the night before a public holiday, so there’s every reason to get along and help us kick off what is sure to be a big season ahead,” Dilena said.

“We want our fans to really embrace this opportunity to fill the ‘G in red, white and black and make sure it feels like a Saints home game on the biggest stage.”

Further details, including ticketing information, will be confirmed shortly.
