Major House Fire Near Historic Cinema in Indooroopilly Prompting Emergency Response

Firefighters are currently battling a significant house fire in the riverside suburb of Indooroopilly, adjacent to the historic Eldorado cinema. Emergency crews received reports of the blaze at approximately 2:20 PM and quickly deployed five fire units to the scene on Coonan Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the house fully engulfed in flames, raising immediate concerns about the risk it posed to nearby structures, particularly the cinema. Due to the intense heat and the scale of the fire, emergency services initiated an evacuation of an apartment building located behind the burning house on Riverside Terrace.

By 3 PM, the fire had been contained, averting further damage to surrounding properties. It remains unclear whether anyone was present in the house at the time of the fire. In addition to firefighters, paramedics and police were on site to manage the situation and ensure public safety.

Traffic in the area has been disrupted, with routes toward the river blocked by a fire truck responding to the incident. The local community is advised to avoid the vicinity as emergency crews continue their efforts. Further investigations will determine the cause and status of the abandoned house involved in this incident.
