While drama continues to flood the upcoming wedding between swimming icon Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay, the Olympian can count on support from Holly’s father, superstar chef Gordon Ramsay. Holly has recently been branded “divisive and hurtful” after reportedly declining to invite Peaty’s mother to their nuptials.

The fallout ignited as Holly, 25, welcomed her own mother Tana, family friend Victoria Beckham and Adam’s sister to her hen do, but not Adam’s mum Caroline, 59.

Adam, meanwhile, is said to have invited Gordon, also 59, to his stag do celebrations. Gordon has shown his true colours toward Peaty in the past, praising the three-time Olympic champion and even supporting him at a gruelling triathlon in August, where Peaty was part of the celebrity chef’s team.

Ramsay was unable to take part himself due to having stitches on his cheek, so took up the role of cheerleader at the Royal Victoria Dock in London. After Peaty crossed the line, a beaming Ramsay wrapped his arm around him, delighted with his future son-in-law’s performance.

Giving the three-time Olympic champion his seal of approval, Ramsay added that he and his wife Tana “couldn’t ask for anyone better” to be their son-in-law. He also opened up on how Peaty told them of his engagement plans for Holly.

“He’s a very nice guy,” Gordon said. “He’s so down to earth and so focused and disciplined. “He sat us down in Cornwall and he said, ‘Holly is just the perfect woman. I’d like to get your blessing – from you and Tana for her hand in marriage’. It was that sort of amazing moment. Everything went quiet.

“As a future son-in-law, we couldn’t ask for anyone better. He’s so grounded. Those two get on so well. It’s a blessing.”

Ramsay has been involved with the upcoming wedding and even let slip that the couple were tying the knot. “It’s going to be a Christmas wedding,” the celebrity chef revealed during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show. “They’re looking at areas and venues and lots of planning.”

However, the upcoming wedding has been marred by a bout of family strife. Peaty’s mum’s sister, Louise Williams, even vented her rage at Holly in a public Instagram post.

The post said: “@hollyramsayy I’m so glad that you had a great hen do. As a bride, you deserve that. However, as a person you were divisive and hurtful towards a woman, who I have loved and continue to love deeply.

“A woman who opened her home and heart to you. You decided, for whatever reason, not to invite her, your prospective mother-in-law to your hen night yet Adam invited his father-in-law, your dad, to his stag night.

“You invited your mum (quite rightly) and even your mum’s assistant, your sisters, your friends, my niece, but not my sister, your future mother-in-law.

“I have also seen messages passing between her and Adam about this and other matters and, quite frankly, I expected better of you and definitely of Adam. You have inflicted a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever.”

The Daily Mail claimed that Peaty had distanced himself from his mother after falling in with the Ramsay family. It is said the athlete and his partner have now even banned Caroline from the wedding itself, which is set to take place on Christmas Day at Bath Abbey.

Caroline, of Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, herself waded into the stunning row by sharing her distress in an Instagram post. She said: “Crying is a way your eyes speak when your mouth can’t explain how broken your heart is.”

Her post attracted messages of support and concern from friends including one who said: “Don’t let them drag you down Caroline.” The same person added: “You know considering they are both supposed to be mental health advocates they don’t seem to be showing much regard for yours.”

The comment was a reference to the mental health struggles of Holly and world champion Adam, who took a competitive break from swimming in 2023 after “three years of hell,” which saw him battle depression and alcoholism.
