TikTok star from North Carolina ordered to pay $1.75 million amid lawsuit

DURHAM, N.C. (WBTV) – A social media influencer and TikTok star from North Carolina was ordered to pay $1.75 million on Monday after she was sued by her manager’s wife.

The lawsuit against Brenay Kennard — who has 2.9 million followers on TikTok and 274,000 on Instagram — was first filed in May 2024. In that suit, Kennard was accused of having an affair with her manager, which his wife claimed destroyed their marriage.

In the lawsuit, the wife alleged that Kennard had a sexual relationship with her husband, and that she “engaged in behavior designed to seduce” him and “flaunted her affair and romantic relationship … in public and private places.”

The suit claimed that the affair caused the woman’s husband to leave their home and children, and alleged that he moved in with Kennard in Greenville, N.C.

Kennard was sued for both alienation of affection and criminal conversation. More than a year and a half after the lawsuit was first filed in Durham County, a jury found on Nov. 10, 2025 that Kennard was liable for both counts.

The jury ordered Kennard to pay the woman $1.5 million for the alleged alienation of affection, and $250,000 for criminal conversation. The case was a civil matter and Kennard did not face any criminal charges.

Kennard’s videos each garner hundreds of thousands of views on TikTok, with content that mostly ranges from things like shopping, makeup, cooking and home life.
