Highly-anticipated obsessive thriller branded TV’s “twistiest” finally confirms UK return date

Returning thriller Tell Me Lies has finally confirmed a UK premiere date for its third season. The show, which is based on the novel by Carola Lovering, centres on a relationship between two New York students.

Following the second season late last year, it has been confirmed that the highly-anticipated follow-up will debut on 13 January, 2026 on Disney+ in the UK. A few first-look stills have also dropped.

The new episodes follow Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) as they rekindle their romance ahead of the spring semester.

“While they promise things will be different this time, past indiscretions hinder their best intentions, and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with,” the synopsis adds.

“Meanwhile, the disastrous repercussions from the previous year also force Lucy and Stephen’s friends to face their own destructive behaviors. As scandalous secrets fester around campus, vicious consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle.”

It comes after the twist-filled series finally dropped its second season in September for UK-based fans, over a year after it debuted in the US.

Tell Me Lies‘ first season sits at an impressive 75% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 12 reviews, with Collider calling it “TV’s twistiest, most toxic show”, while Common Sense Media said it is “a cheesy but compelling watch”.

Writing about season 2, Decider said: “Between the old lies and secrets that everyone is keeping and the new ones that have just been revealed, the show redefines ‘guilty pleasure’ as a show where the guilty get pleasured… and pretty much everyone is guilty of something.”

Meanwhile, following the season 2 finale, show creator Meaghan Oppenheimer previously teased that star Tom Ellis may not return as Oliver in the third season – though it appears he is back after all going by the new stills.

“I think Tom was just wanting to do one season,” she told Variety last year. “I think that we wrapped up his storyline in a way that really worked for me. I don’t know where else we would go after that with him.”

Tell Me Lies returns on 13 January, 2026 on Disney+ in the UK. The first two seasons are available to stream on Disney+ and BBC iPlayer.
