‘Dune: Prophecy’ Adds Indira Varma, Ashley Walters & Tom Hollander As Season 2 Begins Production
Indira Varma (Coldwater, The Night Manager), Ashley Walters (Top Boy, Adolescence) and Tom Hollander (The White Lotus, The Night Manager) have joined the cast of HBO‘s drama series Dune: Prophecy for Season 2. Production on the show’s 8-episode sophomore season is currently underway and will take place in Hungary, Jordan, and Spain.
From the expansive universe of Dune, created by author Frank Herbert, and set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy is inspired by the novel “Sisterhood of Dune,” written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. It follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.
Details regarding what Season 2 will cover and who Varma, Walters and Hollander will play are under wraps.
The returning cast includes Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, Yerin Ha, Barbara Marten, and Tessa Bonham Jones.
Season 1 received four Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music, Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Period Or Fantasy Program (One Hour Or More) and Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Season Or A Movie.
Alison Schapker serves as showrunner and executive producer of Dune: Prophecy Season 2. Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, Kevin Lau, Monica Owusu-Breen, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, and Jon Spaihts serve as executive producers alongside Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert for the Frank Herbert estate. Kevin J. Anderson serves as co-producer.
The series is co-produced by HBO and Legendary Television, with Legendary also producing the film franchise.
