Boy, 5, dies after ‘wall collapses’ at family golf venue

A five-year-old boy who was seriously injured at a family golf venue has died.

Officers were called to Sidcup Family Golf off the A20, near Swanley, following reports a child had been injured by a “collapsing wall”.

Paramedics also attended the venue on the bypass at 5.44pm on Sunday (November 9) and treated a five-year-old boy who was taken to hospital by the London Air Ambulance where he had been in a life-threatening condition.

Now the force has confirmed the boy sadly passed away in hospital yesterday (November 11).

His family are being supported by specialist officers and have asked for privacy during this difficult time.

A six-year-old girl was also injured and has since been discharged from hospital.

A police spokesperson added: “Inquiries are ongoing and officers are working with the Local Health and Safety Inspector.”

Sidcup Family Golf, which contains the American Golf store, remains shut.

A notice on the website reads: “Sidcup Family Golf is closed today following an incident on site.

“Our thoughts are with those affected. We appreciate your understanding at this time and will share further updates when appropriate.”

A spokesperson from Sidcup Family Golf previously said: “We are concerned to report that a child was injured at Sidcup Family Golf on Sunday afternoon around 5:45pm.

“Our first priority was ensuring they received immediate medical attention.

“We are cooperating fully with emergency services and investigating what happened. Our thoughts are entirely with the child and their family at this time.”
