Hosking and Lynch nominated for Mark of the Year

Sarah Hosking and Beth Lynch are in the running to win the 2025 AFLW Medibank Mark of the Year.

Richmond’s Sarah Hosking and Beth Lynch have been nominated for the AFLW Medibank Mark of the Year Award, after their heroic, running-back-with-the-flight marks.

Hosking’s iconic grab came late in the first quarter during the side’s win over Collingwood in Round 11.

The scene was set when the Pies booted a ball sky high into Richmond’s defensive 50, with multiple players running to get underneath it.

Charging full steam towards the pack while sprinting back with the flight, Hosking embodied the Richmond mantra by leaping headfirst into danger and completing the mark in heavy traffic. The grab resulted in a goal-saving moment and will go down as one of the all-time great AFLW marks.

In Round 2, Richmond defender Lynch took a similar mark, running back with the flight of the ball to take a courageous grab over Bulldogs veteran Ellie Blackburn.

Lynch didn’t hesitate to throw herself in harm’s way to win back possession as she sprinted toward the Tigers’ defensive 50, where she took a leaping intercept mark off half-back.

Like Hosking, Lynch’s display of courage showed how far she is willing to go for her teammates. It was her first game back since returning from a shoulder injury.

Fans who vote for their favourite mark will also go in the running for a chance to win $5,000 thanks to Medibank.
