Snooker Champion of Champions LIVE – Action as Mark Selby recovers to lead against Mark Williams

SELBY BEATS WILLIAMS TO REACH SEMI-FINAL IN TOPSY-TURVY THRILLER

Mark Selby booked his place in the semi-finals of the Champion of Champions with a dramatic 6-5 win over defending champion, Mark Williams.

Williams raced into an early lead, taking the opening two frames with ease, as Selby had just three shots at the table.

However, Selby pounced on a couple errant shots to hit back with equal firepower, taking the next four frames on the bounce.

Williams was not done yet and, as the match became more tactical and slow-paced, managed to scrap back to parity with a gruelling 48-minute frame.

The Welshman also came out on top in yet another nervy frame that went beyond the half-hour mark and moved within one frame of the semi-finals as momentum swung his way once more.

But Selby then held his nerve in a tense tenth frame to draw level once more, much to the delight of the Leicester crowd, who cheered the local lad over the line as he saved his best snooker for the last frame to win the decider.
