The Brisbane Lions have welcomed the release of the 2026 AFL season fixture with the club set to unfurl the 2025 Premiership flag at the Gabba during Opening Round on Saturday 7 March.
Lions Chief Executive, Sam Graham said as back-to-back Premiers, the club was looking forward to the 2026 season with multiple blockbusters scheduled for the Gabba.
“We’re looking forward to seeing our fans pack out the Gabba again next season, the atmosphere and energy the crowd brings our team is like having another player on the field and we want the Gabba to remain our fortress,” he said.
“We’ll unfurl the Premiership flag in Opening Round before our clash with the Bulldogs, the traditional Easter Thursday blockbuster against Collingwood is locked in for Rd 4 and we also welcome the Crows and Carlton back to Queensland with the Grand Final rematch against Geelong scheduled for Rd 10.
“Our home games are scheduled across a range of days and timeslots which gives flexibility to our growing fan base with six of our Gabba games against teams that finished in the Top 8 this season.”
Other clubs to visit the Gabba in 2026 include Fremantle, Sydney, Port Adelaide, Hawthorn and the SUNS.
Graham said, the Lions would be ready to go again in 2026.
“The full squad will be back for pre-season from 1 December, and we’ll be counting down the days until Opening Round.
“The playing group has plenty of belief after the past two seasons and we’ve got some new additions to the squad this year so there is plenty for our fans to look forward to this year.”
In terms of our away matches the Lions will play six games in Victoria, which is important for our Victorian based members and supporters, visit the Barossa Valley for the first time in Gather Round and will once again visit Hobart, this time to take on Richmond at Ninja Stadium.
The Lions will travel to Sydney twice to take on the Swans (SCG) and Giants (Engie) and have one trip west to take on West Coast at Optus Stadium.
Graham said, with our record Membership base and performance through 2024 and 2025, the best way to see the Lions at the Gabba is through a Lions membership.
