WATCH: Massive Yves Missi vs. Jerami Grant Brawl Shocks NBA, Players Ejected as Tempers Flare

The NBA got its first big fight of the season on Wednesday, when Yves Missi got into it with Jerami Grant. Missi and Grant were ejected for their roles in the fight, and it will be interesting to see if the league hands out suspensions. Bench players are not allowed to leave courtside when a brawl happens, or they could face suspension.
With the New Orleans Pelicans and Portland Trail Blazers tied at 39 midway through the second quarter, Missi and Grant battled for position to get the rebound. They were grabbing each other when Missi tried to push off Grant, who was grabbing his left arm and dragging him under the basket.
Referees were blowing their whistles hard when things escalated quickly with some pushing and shoving. Pelicans and Blazers players quickly tried to stop the fight from turning into a brawl, and thankfully, cooler heads prevailed.

New Orleans’ coaching staff did their best to prevent any bench players from approaching the situation, though one player could face a suspension from the NBA after walking into the pile.
However, technically, he didn’t enter the court since the fight broke out outside the lines under the basket, near the cameramen.
Here’s the video of the fight.
After the NBA officials reviewed the play, they decided to disqualify Jerami Grant and Yves Missi from the game. Shaedon Sharpe of the Portland Trail Blazers and Herbert Jones of the New Orleans Pelicans were also assessed with one technical foul each.
Grant had two points, two rebounds and one assist in seven minutes, while Missi registered a block in just two minutes of action. The second-year big man has lost his place in the starting lineup to Kevon Looney and minutes to Derik Queen.

According to ESPN, the minimum fine for an ejection in the NBA is $2,000. The league could investigate further to assess the severity of the penalty, though Wednesday night’s fight might produce a lot of monetary fines.
Both Jerami Grant and Yves Missi quickly left the court after their ejection. If they were too hot-headed or too stubborn to leave immediately, a minimum of $50,000 could have been their fine.
Shaedon Sharpe and Herbert Jones are also expected to get fined for their technical fouls. The coaching staff of both teams should be commended as well, since they kept their respective benches tight, as the situation was quickly de-escalated.
