2026 WCQ Playoffs: Marc Brys confident Cameroon will be ready for DR Congo

Despite the negativity from Fecafoot, Cameroon national team head coach Marc Brys has maintained a brave face heading into their vital 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff tie against DR Congo.
The Indomitable Lions will face the Leopards at Al Barid Stadium in Rabat on Thursday, November 13. This will be the first leg of the two-legged fixture against DR Congo.
Despite naming his squad for the fixture earlier enough, it was delayed until November 9 after the Belgian refused to travel to Yaounde for a press conference to unveil his list of players.
Cameroon missed out on the automatic qualification after finishing second behind Equatorial Guinea. The Indomitable Lions managed 19 points in Group D, four fewer than leaders Equatorial Guinea, who secured the automatic spot.
Cameroon will be mentally ready for DR Congo
“The group is mature and competent enough to handle the situation. It is not the first time for many, and I am 100 per cent sure that we will be ready if the mentality is good and if the passion and enthusiasm are present from the beginning,” Brys told SuperSport website.
“I am a positive person so I do not deal with the negative like for example Fecafoot.”
Meanwhile, DR Congo missed out on the qualification ticket after finishing second in in Group B behind Senegal. DR Congo amassed 22 points, while the Lions of Teranga secured 24 points.
