‘I did have a cry’: Isla Fisher gives rare insight into life after Sacha Baron Cohen divorce

Isla Fisher has shared intimate details about what the aftermath of divorce looks like for her.
The Australian-born Confessions of a Shopaholic star opened up about life after her marriage to Sacha Baron Cohen ended, and how she’s coped with the transition from marriage to singledom in a new interview with Elle magazine.
Fisher, who spent many of her early years growing up in Perth, announced her split from the comedian in 2024.

She said life now looks very different for her,after selling the house she and Baron Cohen shared in Sydney’s eastern suburbsand moving to London.
She confessed there was one big milestone that brought her to tears: the moment where the furniture was delivered to her new apartment.
“When it all arrived, I did have a bit of a cry because this was my first time as a single woman, being in a home of my own,” she told Elle.
“Trying to create a new life from a grassroots level, at least emotionally, has been challenging, but deeply rewarding. I’m enjoying this new version of my life.”

The Wedding Crashers star also admitted she now prefers a calmer atmosphere in her home.
“I love to get in the bath. I’ll light some candles, bring in my laptop and put on something on Netflix. That’s as exciting as it gets.”
When shopping for her new London home, she said she had a list of non-negotiables: space for her family to visit, and room for her and her children to roam outside.
“With the Australian upbringing I was lucky enough to have, I’ve always been barefoot in the garden or on the beach, so this is as close as I can get to feeling like I’m home,” she shared.

Fisher and Baron Cohen’s relationship spanned over 20 years, with the stars sharing three children Montgomery, 10, Elula, 13 and Olive, 16.
“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down,” they shared in statements posted to Instagram last April, alongside a photo of them in tennis gear.
“In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage.”
The ex-couple first met in 2001 at a party in Sydney, and were inseparable from then on.

Following a six-year engagement, the couple wed in 2010.
Fisher returned to her roots during the 2020 lockdown, moving her husband and children home to Sydney.

Fisher previously said in an interview with Marie Claire that she “feels like she can be herself in Australia.”
“I love the people. I love the colours and the sights and the taste and the smells. And there’s something about being home which is just … it feels very magical.”
