More snow and rain expected this week in Montreal

The flakes aren’t finished yet, more snow is on the menu today before rain joins the mix.

Cloudy skies will bring periods of snow this morning, turning to a mix of rain and snow by this afternoon.

“We’re going to have very little furriers for the next days, fading off for the end of the week, but it’s going to be on and off with very little accumulation, maybe one centimeter at most,” said Simon Legault, meteorologist for Environmental Climate Change Canada.

Periods of rain mixed with snow will continue tonight, with temperatures holding steady near +2°C.

Thursday will start with snow and rain, changing to rain by late morning and ending by the afternoon. Montrealers can expect a high of +3°C and a low around –1°C under mostly cloudy skies.

Friday will be sunny, with a high of +3°C and clear skies overnight, dropping to –4°C.

Saturday will bring more sun with a high near +1°C, though snow or rain is possible overnight as temperatures hover near zero.

Rain is expected Sunday, with a high of +4°C, followed by cloudy skies and a low near –2°C overnight.

“By next weekend probably on Sunday we are watching for another system that is coming from the west, it could bring some snow, it could even bring some freezing rain or just plain rain,” said Legault. “It’s again a challenging system that will bring a mix of precipitation in the southern part of the province, so we’ll see how Montreal will manage that storm, but surely we have another system that will bring some challenge for the weekend, maybe not for Monday, but surely for Sunday is the most likely period of it.”
