The motorway is currently closed between junctions 12 and 13.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area until the carriageways can be safely reopened – and follow the ‘hollow square’ diversion sign on road signs.

For vehicles travelling westbound motorists should leave the M4 at junction 12 and join the A4 to Newbury.

Road users travelling eastbound are advised to leave the M4 at J13 – and join the A34 southbound towards Newbury before joining the A4.
