‘Don’t need to party’: Star’s subtle dig at ex

Isla Fisher appeared to make a subtle jab at her former home life with Sacha Baron-Cohen in a revealing new interview.
Fisher and the UK comedian finalised their $245 million divorce in June, and Baron Cohen has since been seen hanging out with a much younger influencer.
In a new interview, Fisher has revealed that she’s enjoying living in a home that doesn’t need to be a “party house” anymore.
She told ELLE Decoration: “Trying to create a new life from a grassroots level, at least emotionally, has been challenging, but deeply rewarding.
“I’m enjoying this new version of my life. I don’t need to party in my house anymore. I love to get in the bath. I’ll light some candles, bring in my laptop and put on something on Netflix. That’s as exciting as it gets.”
She also told the magazine about the moment her furniture arrived for her new home and shared that it left her feeling overwhelmed with emotion.
“I did have a bit of a cry because this was my first time as a single woman, being in a home of my own.”
Fisher went on to reveal how grateful she feels for being able to start a new life on her own at her age.
“It’s amazing to me that at this point in my life I’ve got this opportunity, in a positive way, to reinvent what the last act of my life is now from the ground up,” she said.
“For most parents, we focus on our kids and it’s so divine and magical and so absorbing, but now I have some time where the kids aren’t with me, so I get some time to think about what the future might hold for me.”
In April 2024, Fisher and Baron Cohen announced they were ending their marriage after “quietly” separating the previous year.
This June, they settled their divorce and said: “We are proud of all we’ve achieved together and, continuing our great respect for each other, we remain friends and committed to co-parenting our wonderful children.”
Despite having her personal trauma to deal with, Fisher, 49, has worked hard to focus on the positive in life, and it’s helped her fall back in love with acting.
“I’ve really enjoyed going back to work,” she told WISH earlier this year. “It’s so exciting to focus your energy back on something. It’s not that I fell out of love with being ambitious or working, it’s just that I was more in love with motherhood, and I still am.”
