Glen Powell Channels Christopher Walken Getting Into The Groove For ‘SNL’ Hosting Duty, With One Small Accident

The Running Man star and upcoming Saturday Night Live host Glen Powell took on the first promo video for his hosting gig mostly solo, showing off some choreography to “Action Call” by Baptiste Thiry.
The clip begins with an announcement from a radio that “big news out of New York,” Powell will host the show. Powell sits for a second before getting up and busting a move, in the vein of Christopher Walken’s routine for Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice” music video.
The Twisters and Top Gun: Maverick star, who is no stranger to action sequences as evidenced by his latest film, Edgar Wright’s The Running Man in theaters Nov. 14, follows an elaborate dance routine taking him from stepping on seats to a moving dolly platform to the backstage platform.
It’s only when he walks through the door onstage that a forward flip goes horribly wrong with the actor losing his balance and breaking his neck.
“Don’t. Tell. Lorne.” He threatens Sarah Sherman and Andrew Dismukes as an EMT wheels him out of Studio 8H on a stretcher.

Saturday will mark Powell’s first time hosting the sketch comedy show, with Olivia Dean making her musical guest debut. Powell also recently starred in Hulu’s Chad Powers. He follows comedian and Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser, who helmed Nov. 8’s episode.
In The Running Man, Powell stars as Ben Richards, an unlikely hero who challenges a Network-owned society for the latest film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel.
