Late Tuesday evening, a plane carrying the Hungarian national football team landed at Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport. The team arrived for the 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Armenia. Despite the late hour, dozens of fans gathered outside the terminal to see the Hungarian team’s main star — Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.
According to Magyar Nemzet, the Hungarian players and coaching staff arrived in the Armenian capital two days before the match — a rare move for them, as they usually travel for away games only a day prior. Hungarian media note that the decision took into account the three-hour time difference between Budapest and Yerevan.
Before their flight, the team held a morning training session at their Telki training base, then departed for the airport around 3 p.m. The plane landed in Yerevan at about 9 p.m. local time on November 11.
As soon as Szoboszlai exited the transit area, he was surrounded by Armenian fans asking for autographs and photos. Such scenes have become common in recent years — for example, in Bosnia, local fans also gathered near the Hungarian team’s hotel to catch a glimpse of Liverpool’s star.
