Ground Force’s Charlie Dimmock once revealed she had no regrets about an affair with a colleague that led to her separation from her long-term partner.
The presenter – who rose to fame alongside Alan Titchmarsh and Tommy Walsh on the BBC programme – had been with partner John Mushet since they met whilst they were travelling in the 1990s. However, in 2001 they parted ways following Charlie’s brief romance with a sound technician working on Ground Force, reports the Express.
The horticulture specialist later informed the Daily Mail: “I don’t regret what happened. You wouldn’t do anything if you kept worrying about what might go wrong.”

She also revealed: “I’ve discovered that the most difficult after-effect of the break-up is getting into another relationship.”
In 2014, Charlie – who featured on the Ground Force team from 1997 to 2005 – confirmed that she was single at that time.
Then in 2016 she told the Irish Independent that she was “way past marriage” declaring: “I’m going to be 50 this year. Even sharing a house with someone would be a no from me.”

She continued: “I like my own company. I like to do what I want to do, I’m very selfish like that. I don’t mind fitting in a bit, but I like to be able to get away and have the house to myself.”
Now 59, Charlie has maintained privacy regarding her romantic life in recent years and it remains unclear whether she is presently in a relationship.
Nevertheless, last year she suggested she was unattached when she appeared on her former colleague’s programme, Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh. During their conversation, she revealed: “The older I get, the happier I get being on my own.”

Charlie has been a familiar face in the world of gardening for many years, first gracing our screens back in 1997 with Ground Force.
The show ran until 2005, but Charlie stepped away from the limelight after the tragic loss of her mother and stepfather in the 2004 tsunami disaster in Thailand.
She made a triumphant return to television in 2016 with BBC’s Garden Rescue, which quickly became a hit on daytime TV.
