TV star Jasmine Harman has opened up about her husband’s unexpected heart attack at 45, which occurred while they were refurbishing their new home in Spain.
The A Place In The Sun presenter and her husband Jon, parents to Joy, 12, and Albion, nine, have been sharing their renovation journey in Estepona on a new daily Channel 4 series. However, today’s episode (November 11) took a distressing turn when Jon was filmed being rushed to hospital after falling ill.
In the scenes, doctors informed Jon that he had suffered a heart attack.
Earlier in the episode, Jon had revealed that heart problems are prevalent in his family. His sister Jo passed away unexpectedly in 2016 at just 40 due to sudden arrhythmic death syndrome. A few weeks later in May, Jon experienced his own heart attack, reports the Mirror.

Speaking exclusively about the ordeal, Jasmine shared that Jon is thankfully recovering, but admitted that the frightening incident has led her to re-evaluate her life – particularly following the loss of several close friends, including fellow A Place In The Sun host Jonnie Irwin.
Jonnie died of cancer in February 2024 aged 50. Alongside dealing with the loss of Jon’s sister, the couple have also been grappling with the passing of Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers, who died last year. Jon had worked alongside Dave for many years.

Jasmine – who celebrates her 50th birthday this week – told the Mirror exclusively: “Jon is fine now and he is back working. I know this sounds strange but even with the background of what could have happened and worrying he could have died; it makes you feel lucky he just had a mild heart attack and everything is fine.
“But the challenges life throws at you has made me take things in my stride a lot better than I used to.”
Remembering when Jon began feeling unwell in May, Jasmine said they’d just had lunch and he started to feel “funny and strange”.
He went to lie down but them became “very agitated” and felt “a tightening in his chest”.

“He was having a bit of trouble breathing and everything that was touching him was annoying him,” she said. “I immediately called the ambulance as soon as he said he felt funny.”
Upon their arrival at the Spanish hospital, medics swiftly provided reassurance to Jon. “They told us he’d had a mild heart attack and immediately started doing some tests,” she explains.
The TV star said further investigations are being conducted that that they are keeping a close watch on him.
A Place in the Sun airs on Channel 4 and Jasmine Harman’s Renovation In The Sun continues to be broadcast weekdays at 5pm on Channel 4
