Ole Gunnar Solskjaer breaks Rangers silence as Man Utd hero sets one thing straight over talks

Solskjaer was briefly linked with the Rangers job but now he’s spoken out on how far it really went
Solskjaer had been linked with the Rangers job before Danny Rohl’s appointment
Gary Neville put Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the spot on how far talks with Rangers really went – and the Manchester United legend revealed there was contact with the Ibrox side.
Solskjaer was among the smorgasbord of names put forward as options to replace Russell Martin and at one stage was one of the frontrunners with the bookies.
He was never as far along as the likes of Steven Gerrard or Kevin Muscat but reports at the time did suggest he’d been contacted – further fuelled by Paul Scholes who hinted at a secret interview on his podcast.
In the end the former United boss never really got off the ground as a serious contender and Rangers turned to Danny Rohl.
Solskjaer for his part has been radio silent on the situation – until now.
He appeared on the Stick to Football podcast with his former teammate Neville and was asked directly about what happened.
Neville asked: “There were rumours obviously you’d maybe had a conversation with Rangers, I don’t know whether that’s true or not…'”
Solskjaer discussed his managerial future in this week’s edition of The Overlap
Solskjaer then responded: “I didn’t speak to them, no.” Neville then pressed further: ‘At all?’
And Solskjaer opened up: “I didn’t speak to them – well, I personally didn’t. They called my agent, as you say, and my agent rings whenever there’s interest – he’s my best mate, to put it that way – and we end up talking.
“I’m open. It’s not like I’m desperate to be back in but, yeah, I can be.”
