Harvest of Health event offers free screenings and immunizations

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – A free community health event will offer screenings, immunizations and family activities at Mercy Clinic.
The annual Harvest of Health runs from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, at 2500 Zacatecas St. The event includes health screenings, flu shots for children and adults, exercise classes and educational activities.
“This is a community, family-friendly event,” said Diana Granados with Mercy Clinic. “It’s about early detection and prevention.”
The event features Loteria games focused on health topics, including diabetes, cancer and preventative care. Attendees can receive flu shots and other immunizations by bringing their vaccination records.
Additionally, the sheriff’s department will provide fingerprinting services for children. Door prizes include 20 turkeys donated by Commissioner Jesse Gonzalez and six $50 H-E-B gift cards.
Participants qualify for raffles by visiting booths and collecting signatures from six of seven stations. “We have a lot of information that we definitely need, being November Diabetes Month,” Granados said.
The event emphasizes the benefits of early detection for both health and financial reasons. Organizers encourage families to attend as flu season approaches.
