The BJP hopes her connection with the region and popularity will change the voting patterns in a seat long dominated by the RJD.
That name now echoing across the constituency is Maithili Thakur. And with her entry, the political mood has shifted dramatically.
Recently, a video of Maithili eating makhana from a Mithila paag went viral. The act was perceived by some as a symbol of honour and identity, sparking criticism from people who felt the act disrespected the cultural pride of Mithila.
Maithili addressed the backlash by wearing the paag prominently during her events, implying she intended no disrespect for tradition.
Beyond politics, Maithili continues to carry her entertainment appeal into the campaign. She has received several notable awards and recognitions for her contributions to music.
Her journey from reality shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs and Rising Star to TV appearances and Coke Studio Bharat has helped her carve a niche in the music industry.
From the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar to the Lokmat Sur Jyotsna Award and the National Creators Award in 2024, she has many awards credited to her name.
Additionally, she won the I Genius Young Singing Star competition in 2016, along with a Gold Creator Award from YouTube in 2019. She was also nominated for the Bollywood Life Awards in 2023 for Best Musician on YouTube.
The BJP is heavily relying on her youth connect, cultural branding and clean image to challenge RJD’s long-held grip in Alinagar. She is fighting against RJD’s Binod Mishra and Jan Suraj’s candidate.
While local dynamics remain intense, exit polls favour the NDA alliance across Bihar, giving the BJP a confidence boost. Polls project the alliance to win between 121 to 167 seats out of 243 statewide.
As per the early Bihar Election Results 2025 trends, Maithili Thakur holds a strong chance of winning the Alinagar seat.
