Timber giant files administration notice

The move gives the Sheffield-based supplier, which employs over 1,000 staff, protection from creditor action while it weighs up restructuring and rescue options.
The England division spans a large national network trading under well-known sector brands including Arnold Laver, National Timber Systems, SV Timber and NORclad, with branches in Alfreton, Nottingham and Leicester among those affected.
National Timber Group England sits within National Timber Group Midco, which has also filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator as the wider business
Latest accounts for the business show the firm turned over nearly £200m in 2023 but ran up pre-tax losses of £6.3m.
Founded in Sheffield in 1920 by Arnold Laver, the group is a major supplier to joiners, house builders, contractors and large infrastructure schemes, backed by extensive warehousing, processing and distribution operations.
