Black Stars: Benjamin Asare finally joins team ahead of international friendlies

Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has landed in Japan and finally connected with his teammates at the camp of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team-the Black Stars.
In the wake of Hearts of Oak’s 1-0 loss to archrivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko, the shot stopper made his way to the Asian country and arrived in the wee hours of Thursday, November 13.
The Black Stars are scheduled to take on Japan in a friendly game on Friday, November 14 ahead of another friendly game against South Korea on November 18.
The friendly games are part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico with all three countries having already qualified to the tournament.
Ghana’s preparations for the friendlies have been rocked by a significant number of key players missing including Mohammed Kudus, Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey.

In their stead, the likes of Prince Owusu and Kelvin Nkrumah of Medeama SC and Prince Adu Kwabena of FC Viktoria Plzen were named to the squad.
