Cobourg police say they’ve laid several charges following a series of unrelated incidents across the community on Tuesday, November 11.
Officers responded to four separate calls that day, including a disturbance, a neighbour dispute, and two investigations involving suspected fentanyl.
In the first case, police say a 41-year-old woman was arrested around 8:10 a.m. near King and Division Streets after being recognized as wanted on an outstanding warrant. During the arrest, officers say they located suspected fentanyl. The woman was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance and held for bail. Police noted that she has been arrested 20 times since last November and has had 74 interactions with officers in the past year.
Later that afternoon, police responded to Division and Chapel Streets after reports of suspicious individuals. A 37-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and also charged with fentanyl possession. About 30 minutes later, officers report being called to University Avenue West and Spring Street, where a 40-year-old man was taken into custody following reports of individuals going through vehicles. He too was charged with drug possession.
That evening, police were called to a neighbour dispute at an east-end apartment complex where a 28-year-old man allegedly made threats toward residents. The man was arrested and charged with uttering threats.
Three of the accused were released with future court dates, while the 41-year-old woman remains in custody.
