Emergency crews at Indianapolis Zoo

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A female chimpanzee that escaped her enclosure at the Indianapolis Zoo on Friday morning has been returned and the zoo is operating normally.
“At approximately 10 a.m., a female chimpanzee was seen outside her exhibit. Following emergency protocol, the Indianapolis Zoo was immediately locked down, and all guests were escorted to secure locations,” the zoo said in a release.
The chimpanzee was sedated and taken back to her exhibit.
There were no injuries to guests, Indianapolis Zoo staff, or the animal.
The zoo has reopened as normal.
