Canadiens’ Newhook out four months with ankle injury; Guhle sidelined 8-10 weeks with torn muscle

The Montreal Canadiens announced on Friday that forward Alex Newhook had surgery on a fractured ankle and is expected to be out four months, while defenceman Kaiden Guhle had surgery on a partially torn abductor muscle and is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks.
Newhook sustained the injury early in the second period of Thursday’s game against Dallas, after he was taken down by Stars defenceman Ilya Lyubushkin while racing for the puck and slid feet-first into the end boards.
Lyubushkin was assessed a minor penalty on the play.
Newhook remained down and needed help to get off the ice and into the dressing room.
Guhle sustained the injury in the third period of Montreal’s game against the Nashville Predators on October 17.
