Thompson, Winslet ‘Sense and Sensibility’ returning to theaters

Nov. 13 (UPI) — Sony Pictures Entertainment and Columbia Pictures announced Thursday that Sense and Sensibility is returning to theaters. The 1995 film will play Dec. 14, 16 and 17.
Dec. 16 is Jane Austen’s birthday. Emma Thompson adapted Austen’s book for the Ang Lee-directed film.
Thompson also played Elinor Dashwood, who, with sister Marianne (Kate Winslet), tries to marry to secure their financial well-being after the death of their father. Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant and James Fleet play suitors.
The film won an Oscar for Thompson’s screenplay adaptation and further nominations for Winslet and Thompson’s performances, Best Picture, cinematography, costume design and musical score.
The re-release will showcase the 4K edition of the film. Sense & Sensibility was released in its 2021 Columbia Classics Vol. 2 collection, highlighting the studio’s landmark films.
