‘Trudy Blue’: Dakota Johnson To Play An Outlawed Android In Sci-Fi Film From ‘Lightyear’ Director

Dakota Johnson continues to make unpredictable choices in the projects she takes part in. This year she’s starred in two very different movies, Materialists and Splitsville, with the Colleen Hoover adaptation Verity already generating buzz for next year. Along with her directorial debut, A Tree is Blue, Johnson is adding another interesting acting role. She’ll play an android in Trudy Blue, a sci-fi film from Lightyear director Angus MacLane.
According to Deadline‘s report, Trudy Blue “is a grounded sci-fi action movie set in the near future, about an outlawed android maid who wakes up in a landfill 2,000 miles from home and must embark on a journey through a now foreign world to get back to where she belongs.”
The film has a script by Evan Twohy, whose film Bubble & Squeak made a splash at Sundance this year.
MacLane is best known as a Pixar animator who co-directed Finding Dory, and made his solo directorial debut with the Toy Story spinoff, Lightyear. Trudy Blue will be his first live-action film.
